If you are interested in getting ahead with your kitchen remodeling project, then try getting a one up on your architect by doing the kitchen measuring. The following guide explains how to take kitchen measurements in all kinds of kitchens:


Custom	Modern

Step 1: measure the overall length of each wall in your kitchen and record the kitchen measurements on grid paper.
Step 2: Begin adding in windows and doors at the top left corner of the sketch, and continue clockwise around the room until every obstruction has been measured. Remember to include the trim around windows as part of your kitchen measurements.
Step 3: Measure the ceiling height of your kitchen remodeling plan and note it in the center of the sketch. Remember to measure in several areas to check is the height is consistent or not.
Step 4: Take the kitchen measurements of the area between your windows and kitchen floor. Graph the results for each window.
Step 5: Starting at the top left of the sketch, label your windows in ascending number order. Remember, kitchen measuring for the breaks in walls is done by measuring from the corner to the outer edge of the molding. Do the same for doors and walls.
Step 6: Do kitchen measuring for any permanent obstructions such as pipes, air vents, offsets, and appliances, by measuring its height and distance from the nearest wall. Also make a note which is the second closest wall to the obstruction. Remember to measure to the centre line of the plumbing and outlets in order to accommodate your kitchen remodeling design.
Step 7: Check that all your measurements are even, IE – in a square or rectangular kitchen remodel plan, opposite walls should equal the same length, and so on.

And now you are ready for kitchen remodeling!


	When kitchen measuring, it is important you measure the ceiling height from a number of places within the kitchen, in order to see if the wall height is consistent all the way around the room – in old kitchens an uneven ceiling is likely to cause problems.
